Status assessment

Four days engagement brought to fore what is required to touch bases on transfer of training into practice. Rwanda began the competence based Curriculum back in 2016. Two years down the line it was time to develop tools that would be used to establish the status of implementation. Stakeholders from different sectors were assebled with assistance from British Council. Being a foreigner I had to understand the curriculum to establish the expected learner profile, teacher profile, school leaders profile, curriculum support officers profile and the community profile. These profile enabled me to establish their outlooks and disposition in a CBC environment. Armed with the information I was able to review the tools which included Evaluation framework, matrix, questionnaire protocol and questionnaires for the various Audiences. The tools were then dry run within the 20 member committee before being piloted with 100 teachers. It was very reassuring seeing teachers completing the tool and their feedback on the expriences and how to make the tool better. The lead was demanding but eventually we managed to develoment tools, sample schools and ready to collect data Nationwide. It was a stretch, yet very insightful.
